Marcia Barrett was born on 14 October, 1948 in St. Catherina, Jamaica. The passion for music has manifested from yearly ages and she already conducted the children orchestra of her school at age seven. Living thirteen years in Jamaica, in a place with poor surroundings, Marcia followed her mother and sister to England looking for a better life and leaving her father in 1962. She continued studying at "Parkside Secondary School" situated in South London.

At age 16 Marcia gets pregnant and decides to keep the babe even though she was still at school. Helped by her mother she finishes schooling with high grades and surpasses all the problems in her way. Later she will say that her mother is that person she is the most grateful to because she was always there to support her daughter when needed. Working as a junior clerk, Marcia Barrett was feeling that it isn’t the right job for her. One time after being noticed at a discotheque she was offered a job as a dancer in a club outskirt Hamburg. Young Marcia accepted it easily running from the dull routine and getting closer to the things she liked most, singing and dancing.

After three years of successful performing Marcia decides to demonstrate her singing talent and performs “Oh Happy Day” during one of her shows. The public gone crazy and gave her standing ovations. Noticed by Ernst Hanel, she got the opportunity to evolve as a solo singer at Heidi Hoffner School and got booked to several concerts in Germany. In 1975 Marcia Barrett is announced that a famous German producer is seeking for a female vocalist in order to form a group that later was going to enter the history of music industry as the amazing Boney M. She got auditioned by Farian and Klinkhammer and after singing 4 songs she entered the collective along with Bobby Farrell, Maizie Williams and Claudja Barry. One year later after Claudja will leave the band; Barrett will suggest Liz Mitchell, a friend of her, to take her place. This was the collective that started a musical revolution, conquering all Europe with catchy disco beats.

In present days Marcia continues her vocation as a singer, songwriter and producer. Her latest solo album “Survival” shares an amazing amount of hope and optimism, things Marcia Barrett carried through her entire life. The amazing combination of reggae notes with rock tracks and ballads express all the large specter of feelings this amazing singer dedicates to her fans all around the world.
